Visits, clicks and links generated: what each number means
Read the dashboard without confusing page views, automated visits and conversion.
A visit is a page view
Public Tyn.bio page views count loads of editorial pages and the homepage by visitors not recognized as bots. Returning or refreshing may generate another view. This counter is aggregated by page and day without creating a visitor identifier. It measures activity, not the number of people.
Clicks belong to links
A human click is an accepted visit to a short link that was not classified as a bot. HEAD requests, used to retrieve information without loading content, do not increase this counter. App previews and recognized bots are shown separately. Browser-based classification is imperfect: automated tools can present themselves as people.
Link creations have a history
Total creations are calculated from events recorded at the time of creation. Moving a link to trash does not erase this history. When migrating an old installation, only creations whose links still exist can be reconstructed. The dashboard distinguishes older unclassified clicks from newly filtered clicks.
Sessions depend on your choice
First-party measurement groups activity into sessions with gaps of less than 30 minutes. Visitors can disable this measurement on the Privacy page. A random identifier allows visitor estimates during the retention period. Different browsers or clearing data may count the same person again. Rejecting optional metrics keeps the shortener working and the aggregate page counter available.
Conversion has a denominator
Link creation conversion measures how many measured sessions started in the period generated at least one link in that period. It does not divide all creations by total page views. First-party counters and Google Analytics may differ because of consent, blockers, sessions, filtering and time zones. Tyn.bio dashboard periods use UTC to keep comparisons consistent.
